Do you regularly look after your grandchildren as part of childcare arrangements? And are you looking for inspiring places and activities to enjoy with your grandchildren in Cornwall?

We’re running special ‘grandparent-friendly’ activity sessions at our beautiful site, where you can:

  • enjoy spending time with your grandchildren outdoors
  • be inspired by play ideas and outdoor fun, with activities led by our expert team
  • have the chance to meet other grandparents with their grandchildren

What sort of things we get up to

Every day is different, but you can expect all sorts of fun and educational activities which make full use of our inspirational site, and help grandparents and toddlers play together. These include storytelling, nursery rhymes, craft activities, making music and walking nature trails.

After the activities, there’ll of course be the opportunity to head to the cafe for a catch-up with others in the group.

Who it’s for

We’ve designed these sessions with grandparents and under-fives in mind, as we know that many visit Eden regularly – often as part of regular childcare arrangements.

Drop-in activities

When: Grandparent-friendly drop-in sessions happen at Eden daily Tuesdays – Fridays during term time. Sessions take place between 11am and 3pm. Details on daily activities and where they take place can be found on the blackboards around site, including the Visitor Centre.

When: The activities take place around the Eden Project site, with a particular focus on making the most of our Outdoor Gardens. We want to help you explore the lesser-known corners of Eden, so we’ll take you to places like the Global Gardens allotment, secret Wild Cornwall and mysterious Myth and Folklore. We’ll be outside as much as possible, so do come prepared for the weather – although we will make alternative plans for very rainy days.

How to take part: Simply turn up and drop in! All our activities are free, just make sure that you bring a legitimate form of admission to Eden, such as Eden Project Membership, a Locals’ Pass or an Eden ticket (treat this as a donation when you buy it, and you can visit as many times as you like within a year). Children four years old and under can visit for free.

Free, bookable sessions

We are now offering a series of free, bookable sessions in the mornings on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Tuesdays: Wiggle and Rhyme

The nursery rhymes have escaped! Meeting at the Visitor Centre at 10.30am, can your grandchild help us find the nursery rhyme props hidden along the trail? The props are clues to the songs that we will be singing in the Citrus Grove. Return the props to the bag and find Lynne and Julie in the Citrus Grove at 11am, with their instruments. Join in with fun songs which aid early music skills and literacy and numeracy development.

This hour-long session takes place on Tuesday mornings at 10.30am on 8, 15, 22 May, 5, 12, 19, 26 June, 3, 10 July.

Fridays: Music in the Med

Join us at 11am in the Med Biome's Citrus Grove for 45 minutes of original songs inspired by Eden's beautiful gardens. Guided by music specialist Matt Douglas, your grandchild will be introduced to early music skills, as they hear and clap along to the 'Beat of the Biome.' In other songs you will practise counting, learn new words, use your instruments to tell stories and move to the music.

This 45-minute session takes place on Friday mornings at 11am on 11, 18, 25 May, 8, 15, 22, 29 June, 6, 13 July.

How to book

The bookable sessions are free with admission (so you'll just need a ticket, Annual Pass, Locals' Pass or Eden Project Membership to come in), and don't forget that under-fives get free entry to Eden. You will need to book your grandchild(ren)'s free place on the session to help us anticipate numbers. When booking, choose the morning session to complete your booking

We ask for a maximum of two children per adult. Please note that the named adult on the booking form must be the individual who attends the session.
