Head of Horticulture

The Eden Project is looking for a Head of Horticulture and Gardens. We are looking for a skilled and ambitious horticulturist to lead the next phase in the development of our contemporary gardens and landscapes. Last year we opened the new West Australia Garden in the Mediterranean Biome and we will be developing several prestigious new gardens and exhibits over the next five years including a new food and agriculture garden. 

 We are looking for an individual who can lead these projects and our horticultural programmes, creating gardens that delight and inspire. Ideally you will have a commitment to great design and display, a love of plants and the environment, and enjoy growing student and apprentice horticulturists. You will be joining our brilliant horticultural team, a team who see gardens as a tool for changing the world.

We are seeking happy customer facing, presentable and reliable team players to work our busy bars. Experience within bar and hospitality industry is essential and you must be able to work well under pressure and as part of a team. Over 18’s only (due to alcohol sales). You will be required to work up until 11.30pm on each event and varied start times will apply.

Content Coordinator

Fixed term contract up to 2 years*

£17,626 per annum

Eden Project Communities has UK wide reach and delivers initiatives that encourage public engagement and participation in positive action and create real social capital on a mass scale.  Since it began in 2009, participation in The Big Lunch, the UK’s annual get-together for neighbours, has grown continually with the number of people taking part in 2017 rising to over 9 million.  Alongside this we deliver initiatives that encourage connections, engage the public and help people across the UK build the skills and confidence to drive positive social action where it is needed most.

We are looking for a new Content Coordinator to join our team. As someone who loves working with people and helping communities to make positive change, you will support the design, production and distribution of participant and partner resources in a variety of formats, both digital and print. Working closely with the programme team you will also identify interesting and inspiring content that supports our network and projects.  

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of one years' experience in a similar role, will be innovative and creative, able to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively, and have knowledge of the community sector. We are looking for a multitasker, a plate spinner, someone with an eye for detail, and someone that can adapt in a fast paced working environment. 

Over the next 4 years we are growing participation in the programme to new heights and aim to increase the social impact we have on communities and neighbourhoods all over the UK.  You’ll help us increase awareness of and participation in all aspects of the programme, including Community Camps, Exchange Hubs, The Great Big Walk, The Big Lunch and other projects.  

Working for the Eden Project (Charity number 1093070), roles within the programme are funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund.  This is a fixed term contract for up to 2 years subject to funding. The post holder will be based within the region and may be required to travel across the UK for key events and meetings.

Deep Roots New Shoots Project Coordinator 

24 hours per week, Tuesday to Fridays, until March 2019 
£8.50 per hour 
 
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic professional to support the Project Officer with the day to day administration, promotion and coordination of the Deep Roots New Shoots project as well as assisting with the onsite workshop facilitation. The work will include the delivery of activities on site and recruiting, training and supporting volunteers aged over 50 to engage with grandparents and Under 5s visiting Eden, and attending Little Eden sessions. You will coordinate the day to day attendance of the project’s volunteers enrolled to the project and be the first point of contact for volunteers each day providing a daily briefing to ensure they have adequate information to carry out the onsite delivery and communications of the project. The post holder will also work with colleagues, external partners, schools and organisations to promote and raise awareness of the project. 
 
We are looking for someone who is open minded, non-judgemental and passionate about promoting diversity.  The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is able to work alone using their own initiative.  You will have a confident, yet friendly manner and have the ability to communicate information concisely both to a group and in a one to one situation. 
You will work as part of our team of diverse, front-facing staff and volunteers who engage, educate and entertain our visitors; connecting them with each other and the natural world through the many elements of Eden’s story.

Eden Live Narrators

Eden is looking for creative and outgoing individuals who have a passion to get involved with others, have fun and interact with all age groups in a fun and fast paced environment. 
 
This May Half Term our Core Building is re-opening as Invisible Worlds and we have a fun filled programme to celebrate. Helping to facilitate the running of our May Half Term programme, you will be working to create a memorable and exciting experience for our visitors.
 
Activities will include making your own microbes, discovering experiments with Sciencedipity, enjoying a host of games and story books and getting to meet the Tardigrades. You will be encouraging our visitors to have fun, join in, learn and experience our range of activities and exhibits.
 
The programme will run for nine days during the May school holidays. 26th of May - 3rd of June with a training afternoon on the 25th of May.

Facilities Manager

How often do you get the opportunity to work at the eighth wonder of the world, and play an instrumental role in managing and maintaining the facilities that keep this amazing space in peak condition for the one million visitors that come to see us in Cornwall each year?
 
Eden are currently seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to lead, develop and manage our estate.  Eden is a complex site, so the team work on anything from basic maintenance and annual checks to managing the heating for the largest rainforest in captivity.  No two days are the same! This is a varied role that will cover general daily maintenance as well as larger scale projects which could combine skills such as engineering, mechanics, plumbing, electrics; big project builds on site to support the daily activities and seasonal programmes that we deliver, together with large upgrades and ensuring we stay safe and compliant in these areas. 
 
You will be a technical specialist who has the gravitas and knowledge to lead the various teams within the Estates function, supporting and developing them to deliver their best work at all times.  A professional in this field, who is well versed at managing projects of variable scope and in doing this, leading communications with internal senior leaders at Eden, together with external contractors and professional support services.
 
This is an important role at Eden to ensure that we are able to deliver a world class facility to the million visitors that visit us each year. It’s a complex site as you might expect, but with that comes an very rewarding role, in a unique environment  working with a team that are striving to make the planet a better place.

Job Description

 

Hospitality Assistant 

Fixed term role from 21st May to -2nd September. Working up to 30 hrs per week over a seven day rota.

£5.75 per hour for ages 16-17, £6.44 per hour for ages 18-20, £7.83 per hour for ages 21+

The main purpose of the role is to engage with our visitors, to talk to them about the food we serve and ensure that they leave our hospitality venues delighted with the food and level of service they have received. 

We have some opportunities available in our Med Terrace restaurant and our new Core Café and looking for people with a genuine passion for hospitality, great people skills; who understand the need for excellent customer service as well as being able to work within a team.

You will engage with our visitors whist making them drinks, serving them food, or cleaning their tables, demonstrating your product knowledge by advising and making suggestions.

Previous experience working in a customer facing environment or working in a restaurant environment would advantageous but is not essential.

It is essential that you are flexible Monday to Sunday and able to work any days required on a weekly rota basis this will also include some evenings over the contract duration.

Kitchen Porter

There are multiple seasonal contracts starting ASAP, with various end dates up to the end of October.

Summer is fast approaching and now is the time when we’re looking for additional team members to support our existing back of house hospitality team. We love to wow our visitors with our stunning architecture, our amazing horticulture and our fantastic food extravaganza.  It’s all part of the entire unique visitor experience which is only available at the Eden Project!

Hours worked will vary but shifts will be during the day, with additional hours required for our events held on site. Contracts will be based on a minimum of 10 hours per week and a maximum of 30 hour per week, with additional hours available during busier periods. There will be no split shifts. 

This is a key role within the Hospitality team and main duties will include maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen, including washing pots, pans and dishes, cleaning the cookers, sweeping the floors and in general any other activity which is need to ensure the safe and efficient running of the kitchen.

Marketing Campaigns Manager

2018 is set to be a ground breaking year for Eden, as we launch a major new permanent exhibition, Invisible Worlds, and enter the second year of our peak season summer Space programme. We are now seeking an experienced and creative Marketing Campaigns Manager to help develop and deliver best-in-class marketing campaigns to maximise our audience reach and engagement and drive visitors to our iconic destination.
 
This is a fast-paced and varied role, which demands superb multi-tasking abilities, excellent communication skills, and proven experience of working closely with media and creative agencies. You’ll be expected to hit the ground running from day one, as we enter our busiest period of the year. However, you’ll enjoy the support of working as part of the wider sales, marketing and digital team at Eden, reporting into the Brand Marketing Manager.
 
The successful candidate will have strong knowledge and experience of social media and digital advertising, and will demonstrate a proven track record in developing and co-ordinating multi-channel campaigns. You’ll have a confident creative eye, imaginative ideas and great communication skills. Your organisational skills will be second to none, and you’ll happily absorb sudden changes to plans and priorities as the business needs dictate. Knowledge and experience of the tourism/visitor attraction sector would be advantageous.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Eden Project Marketing team in the role of Marketing co-ordinator. As we gear up to our busiest time of year, we are seeking a highly organised and confident marketer to support the team in campaign co-ordination and delivery.
 
We’re looking for an individual with all round marketing and administration skills, ideally with some experience of helping to deliver multi-channel marketing campaigns both on- and offline. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills – ideally with copywriting experience - and a flexible approach to their work, balancing the ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail. Knowledge and experience of the tourism/visitor attraction sector would be advantageous.
